The Mystery of Love
“The Mystery of Love” as read by Warren Adler
Who knows the answer to the mystery of love?
You won’t find it in the heavens above
Or in our misnamed hearts
Pierced by mythical cupid’s darts
Why love one and not the other?
Why him and not his brother
Or her and not her friend
You won’t find any answers in the end
Because no one knows
Nor is there science to propose
Many have felt the ecstasy of its sudden sting
And often seal it with a ring
To some it lasts for life
Through every joy and strife
For others it just floats away
Departing as a leaf on a windy day
One can never know how or why
It comes and goes
Don’t even try
