Iconic Book-Turned-Film The War of the Roses, Will Debut as Stage Play Across the United States After ‘Sold-Out’ Runs in a Dozen Nations
The War of the Roses stage play, based on Warren Adler’s iconic novel that was turned into the blockbuster hit starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito, will debut across the North-American theatre circuit and other English-speaking territories worldwide starting in 2013, following house-full runs and spectacular reviews throughout Italy, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, the Czech Republic. It will soon be premiering in Mexico City, as well.
The announcement was made by Jonathan R. Adler who has also been appointed President of Stonehouse Productions, a company founded by his father Warren Adler, who is represented to the media by Media Connect. He is the author of such popular books-turned-films as The War of the Roses and Random Hearts.
Jonathan Adler served, until recently, as CEO of Sport and Health, one of the largest Washington D.C. based health club and spa chains with annual revenue of $100 million.
Warren Adler’s latest book, The Serpent’s Bite, was published in September 2012, and is garnering excellent reviews. He was recently featured in The Washington Post and Publishers Weekly. Current plans for Stonehouse Productions call for the reissue of the sequel to The War of The Roses, The War of the Roses – The Children, and Washington Masquerade, the eighth book in his Washington D.C.-set political-crime thriller, Fiona Fitzgerald mystery series. New titles are being prepared for release over the next three years.
Jonathan Adler has also formed Grey Eagle Productions, a sister company with industry veteran Stephen Greenwald to develop the author’s work to film and television. Warren Adler has previously sold or optioned film and television rights to 14 of his titles, including The War of the Roses, Random Hearts, Madeline’s Miracles, and Funny Boys. He fueled an unprecedented bidding war between Tri-State Pictures, Warner Bros. and Columbia for his novel, Private Lies. His The Sunset Gang was produced into an Emmy nominated TV series for PBS.
